UK’s most expensive street sees price rise

Chester Square in Belgravia, London, has held onto its title as the most expensive place in the UK to live in 2010, with the average property costing £6.6million.

Despite an uncertain market the average cost of a property in this area has soared by £300,000 during the past year. Former residents of Chester Square include former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and Chelsea Football Club owner Roman Abramovich.

Homes in this area sell for approximately £7million, while in 2008 there were four huge sales, with houses selling for between £12.2million and £19.7million. All of the 20 most expensive streets were found in London, 12 of which are situated in Kensington and Chelsea.

London saw the biggest price rises over the past year, with the average cost of a home on one of the most expensive streets jumping from £4.9million to £5.5million.
